Matangini Hazra: The Fearless Warrior of Indian Independence

Matangini Hazra was a courageous and dedicated Indian revolutionary who played a significant role in the Indian independence movement. Born on 19 October, 1870, in a humble farming family in the village of Hogla, Tamluk, in the district of Midnapore, West Bengal, Hazra grew up witnessing the hardships of rural life under British rule.

Hazra actively participated in several important freedom movements in India, including the Quit India Movement and the Non-Cooperation Movement. She fearlessly marched with the Indian flag, rallying fellow freedom fighters and urging them to rise against British oppression.

Despite facing immense hardships and enduring several arrests, Matangini Hazra refused to step back from her fight for freedom. On 29 September, 1942, during a protest march in Tamluk, she was shot by British police, yet she continued to walk forward until she collapsed, breathing her last breath with the words "Vande Mataram" on her lips.
